Antipathy - a sage surmounts their feelings of sympathy and antipathy

Sympathy and antipathy are natural feelings that even sages experience. However, the difference between a sage and an ordinary person is that a sage surmounts their antipathy and does not give in blindly to their sympathies. Our actions must not be determined by sympathy or antipathy because these are often personal feelings that stem from experiences lived in previous incarnations with beings whom we meet again in this life. They do not provide impartial information about a person’s true worth, their qualities or their flaws. We have to learn how to do things we do not enjoy, and not only show kindness to people we dislike, but also try to see the errors and shortcomings of those we do like.
