Circle - a symbol of creation

How do you draw a circle? You place the point of the compass on the paper where you want the centre to be, and it is only by keeping this point firmly on the spot that it is possible to draw a circumference. So, the centre comes first; the circumference can be drawn only if a centre already exists. This is why Initiates see a circle as the symbol of creation, because it expresses the idea that everything that exists is linked to the centre and can continue to exist only if that link is maintained and cared for. Those who sever their link with the centre can no longer have a clear perception of the world or of the entities and forces at work in it. And not only that: they deprive themselves of the stream of pure life flowing from the Source, God Himself. The balance of cosmic life is founded on the uninterrupted relationship between the centre and the periphery. All the parts of the whole must converge on the centre, for it is the centre that sustains their existence. The perfect illustration of this is the solar system, in which the planets revolve tirelessly in harmonious orbit round the sun.*
