Gestures of attention, respect and love - towards the beings and objects around us

Like most people, you no doubt tend to find that others are not attentive enough towards you. But are you yourself not neglectful? Do you give your attention to each being and each thing? Even when you have to plant or water a flower, give it your attention. You think it makes no difference to the flower whether or not you are attentive. Well, that’s precisely where you are mistaken… Moreover, it’s not so much for the flower’s sake that you should behave in this way but for your own, for it is you who will gain something. When you make a gesture that shows attention, respect and love, this gesture reflects favourably on you. Do not go looking somewhere else far away for what is close by. Day-to-day life is full of possibilities, encounters, contacts with humans, animals, plants, stones and objects too. Do not neglect them; pay attention to them. You will say, ‘Pay attention to objects?’ Yes, learn to handle them consciously and gently, as that is how you will bring the energy currents within you and around you into harmony. If you do not know how to act with harmless objects, what will you do with humans when they come and bother you or hurt you?
