Giving - to receive

Anyone who feels dissatisfied or unhappy will tend to attribute their malaise to something that is lacking and expect someone or something to fill the void. But that is not the solution. The solution is that, despite their feeling of unease, of emptiness, they should resolve to give something to others, to help them, support them, console them, take part in their activities. Then, new life will begin to move within them, and the feeling that something is missing will gradually disappear. They will understand that by seeking to bring something positive to those around them, and even to strangers, they are already receiving strength and support, whereas those who give nothing receive nothing, whatever they are given. Life is based on exchanges: receiving and giving, giving and receiving. And even if you are given nothing in exchange for what you have given, inwardly you receive something from the simple fact that you have given.
