Lack - realizing that we are extremely rich

You always tend to see only the negative side of things. The whole universe is yours, but you continually complain about the lack of this, or the need for that. No, the only thing you are lacking is a divine philosophy. I ask someone, ‘Do you know what possessions you have?’ and he says, ‘All I have is the roof over my head.’ To this I reply, ‘Oh, you poor soul, you never go out, cooped up as you are in your attic. Go out and see your inheritance. You own a vast, immense estate. Come with me and see what belongs to you, all the forests, lakes, rivers and stars... Look within yourself too, and you will see that you possess riches beyond belief.* You want for nothing!’ Most human beings are like the person who, up to their neck in water, complains of being thirsty. They do have water, they are in fact surrounded by an ocean, but they allow themselves to die of thirst.
