To so many adults education consists of wanting to impose …

To so many adults education consists of wanting to impose upon the young moral qualities which they themselves often do not possess and of which they are unable to set an example. And then they are surprised that no-one obeys or respects them. But this should come as no surprise. True educators must live according to the qualities and virtues they teach so that they may stimulate, inspire and impel. A true poet or a true musician inspires others to become poets or musicians. Those who truly possess love open up the heart of all those around them. The bravery of a valiant general will influence his soldiers and they will launch a spirited attack and carry away the victory. Imagine a cowardly, timid, shaky voice shouting: 'Advance!'; no-one will follow. Educators say: 'You must be good, you must be honest ...' but they themselves are none of these. What influence do they hope to have on the younger generations?
