The beliefs, the points of view that parents try to pass on …

The beliefs, the points of view that parents try to pass on to their children are often far from being ideal, it is true. But when children criticize their parents, when they are harsh and insolent towards them, have they adopted the right attitude? No! Realizing that they cannot totally trust in their parents does not give children the right to pour scorn on them. These children have every right not to follow their parents' example, not to adopt their philosophy, but they must not reject their parents. To disagree with a person does not entitle you to despise him, or spurn him. On the contrary, since in your opinion that person is in error, all the more reason to show kindness. Differences with their parents should in no way prevent children from continuing to respect and love them.
