If the disciple is to advance with confidence along the path of evolution, he must be fully aware of the laws of destiny and know that the ordeals he will have to confront over his lifetime are the consequence of transgressions he committed in earlier incarnations. Now he must pay. He must make reparations and learn, by accepting all the conditions divine Justice has determined for him. And nothing can reverse these decisions. If he is to suffer a failure, an illness or an unhappy relationship, he cannot escape it. We are not free on the physical plane, but we can always live our ordeals differently by working to elevate ourselves through prayer and meditation. In doing so, we establish a link with the divine world. We work to enhance the light, strength, purity and love in ourselves, and thanks to these virtues we transform our ordeals. We cannot escape them, but instead of diminishing us they enrich us.
