Water is naturally purified by infiltration or evaporation. As it infiltrates the earth, it passes through different layers where it deposits the impurities it has collected on its way and re-emerges purified and drinkable. From a symbolic point of view, this is the path that most people take: they are constantly being constricted and crushed by events, and it is this suffering, this intense pressure, that purifies them. Spiritualists try to choose the second method: evaporation. They are purified by the sun, not by the earth. Just as water evaporates under the effect of the sun’s rays, those who expose themselves to the spiritual sun are warmed and rise into the air, symbolically speaking. This is how they purify themselves, and during this purification they experience great joy. They then return to earth in order to ‘water’ plants, animals and humans.
