If we relate the four sciences of alchemy, astrology, magic and the Cabbalah to the physical, psychic and spiritual worlds, alchemy can be said to correspond to the physical world, astrology and magic to the psychic world, and the Cabbalah to the spiritual world. We can also relate these four sciences to our own organism. The Cabbalah, which studies the world of principles, corresponds to the brain. Astrology studies the currents of energy which circulate throughout the universe, just as blood and air circulate throughout our organism, and is therefore related to the region of the heart and lungs. And magic, which studies ways of working with these currents, relates to the hands. In effect, the psychic world consists of two regions, and these represent what initiatic Science calls the soul, which is a pathway for the energy passing between the spirit and the body. And finally, alchemy, which is the study of the transformation of matter, corresponds to the stomach, an organ in which materials are accumulated and then elaborated.
