There is a story about a young man who made a pact one day …

There is a story about a young man who made a pact one day with the Devil. ‘So you want to become rich? Fine,’ said the Devil, ‘but every time I bring you money you must give me something in exchange.’ ‘And what would that be?’ ‘One of your hairs.’ ‘Only one hair? Agreed!’ said the young man, extremely pleased. His greed was such that in a short time he was bald, which brought about many changes in his life: his fiancée found him ludicrous and left him; grief-stricken, he began to drink, and no one wanted his company. In the end, he went out on a winter’s day with nothing on his head, caught cold and died! Of course this anecdote is humorous, but this is how a great many people reason: ‘What do I have to lose by cutting my ties to the Lord and satisfying my whims? Nothing will happen!’ But unfortunately something does happen: every day they lose a few particles of light and vitality, and since this loss affects their family and professional life, little by little they ruin everything.
