Destiny can be defined as an archetypal form that leaves its mark on every being at the moment of birth. The twenty-four Elders are those who decide what that form is to be. According to Cabbalah, the twenty-four Elders, who are located in the sephira Binah, represent the highest court of law. They are the ones that decree the form destinies will take: the physical forms we see on earth are a distant reflection of those decreed above. One of these archetypal forms will be projected into a woman when she is bearing a child, and it is this form that the mother-to-be will work with. Once it has been decreed, nothing can change it; it descends into matter to be realized. It’s no use going to seek advice later from astrologers with a view to taking precautions and avoiding trials and difficulties; everything is planned so that ‘what is written’ will come to pass. The only way to win the support of the Lords of Destiny is to accept their decrees with humility and love, in the knowledge that they are just. So it is wisest to regard the difficulties and trials of this life as problems to be solved, knowing that they represent the best means for each person to evolve.
