Every sensation, every emotion, every inner effervescence …

Every sensation, every emotion, every inner effervescence involves the combustion of many substances within us. But people act as if their energies were inexhaustible. They do not realize that everything is measured. When we come into this world we are given a certain amount of energy, and if we are not reasonable, if we waste our reserves – well, that is too bad – we will not be given any more. The proof: there are times when we would need only one more small drop of life to finish our work, but we are not given it. So be careful: if you have major projects to realize, save your energy, because it has been calculated, measured out. If you are not vigilant, you will have to quit without having finished your work, for once your reserves are empty there will be nothing you can do about it.
