Master, A - points his disciple toward the sun

You say you want to take your Master as your example. But a true Master will tell you instead to take the sun as your example, as he himself does. He looks at the sun and raises his arm in its direction, so that all may go to it and absorb its life, its warmth and its light and so become like it. Remember above all concerning your Master that he is like a signpost: he shows you the way to the sun. What did John the Baptist reply when his disciples were questioning him about Jesus? ‘I baptize you with water for repentance, but one who is more powerful than I is coming after me; I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.’ Then, one day, seeing Jesus coming towards him, he said, ‘Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, “After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me because he was before me.”’ In the same way, a true Master says, ‘Here is the sun; go to it, for it is so much greater than I am!’
