The prime motive for the majority of cultivated, civilized …

The prime motive for the majority of cultivated, civilized human beings is to take. Wherever they go, they seek what there is to be taken. They study, they work, they get married, they meet each other, all in order to take. Their thoughts are always directed towards taking. This is why nothing luminous or warm emanates from them any longer. Because they have become used to taking. Even in love, when a man and a woman seek each other out, each of them only thinks of taking. The man wants to absorb life from the woman and vice versa. And when there is nothing left to take, they go their separate ways. You will say: ‘But they come together. Surely they are giving each other something.' Yes, but they do this with the sole purpose of taking. They both only think of getting something from the other. All they do is avidly, selfishly, and unscrupulously draw from the other. Well, this is not love. Love is putting something into the soul and the heart of the other person, vigour, life, inspiration, so that this person awakens and moves forward in light and in joy.
