If you listen to most people talk, they seem to know …

If you listen to most people talk, they seem to know everything, no-one has anything to teach them about living their day-to-day lives. They know everything there is to know. But in fact, this very attitude stops them from making progress. And then one day, after a few unfortunate experiences, things start to crumble and they begin to realize they actually know very little. But at least that day there is hope. One of the best ways of making progress is to see how far others have overtaken us, because comparing ourselves to these people will push us to go further. When we compare ourselves to bad or mediocre people, we feel we are far better, and since we are already so far ahead, we stop there. So many people come to a halt on the path of evolution because they do not compare themselves to those who have surpassed them and do not model themselves on these people.
