When the sick man begged to be healed, Jesus asked: ‘Do you have faith?’ Why this question? Because faith opens a door to spiritual forces. Anything you undertake on your own, solely by your own capacity and will, obeys a natural mechanism and is subject to the law of cause and effect. Whereas the moment you bring faith to bear, you open a door to the powers of heaven. These celestial forces penetrate you; they restore, purify and heal you, even when you do not fully deserve it. We can therefore say that faith compels grace; it opens a door through which grace has no choice but to enter, provided, of course, that you have invited it, like the sick man who asked Jesus to heal him. It was his request that attracted Jesus’ attention and his faith that allowed Jesus’ power to manifest within him.
