You go and listen to a master speak, you read his books, but he will only be able to imprint the great truths on your soul if you are open to him and have faith in him. These truths imprint themselves in you without your knowing it and so one day, when you are at home or as you are walking along the street or strolling through the countryside, they suddenly appear and you are dazzled. You will say: 'But that's magic at play. Magic frightens me.' In truth no-one can ever escape magic. Magic is always around us, night and day. Everything is magic: looks, words, gestures, food, everything. But human beings, who have not yet understood this, do nothing to free themselves from the appalling, harmful magic in which they are steeped day in day out and try even less to accept instead a different kind of magic that will enliven them, give them hope, vigour and love, and help them live fulfilled lives as children of God. Therefore, feel free to close your mind to the influence of wicked people, but why do the same towards a teacher who only has your best interest at heart.
