In spring when the trees come into bloom again, they put on …

In spring when the trees come into bloom again, they put on new finery. People are happy to go out and gaze at them, and they have a good feeling in their presence. The same is true where human beings are concerned. Why do you find someone more attractive at certain moments than at others? His physical appearance hasn’t changed, but you love him because he is covered in flowers, symbolically speaking. We don’t love trees when they are drab and bare. Therefore, if you feel you aren’t loved, or you are no longer loved, say to yourself: ‘I’m passing through winter, but should I allow that to upset me? No, I’ll work, and spring will come back again.’ If you become discouraged, it means you haven’t understood that life perpetually changes. Even though right now you are passing through winter, keep your faith; the spirit will come again, and you will blossom anew.
