Clairvoyance - useful only if we are able to interpret and bear what we see

Why do so many people wish to become clairvoyant? As if ‘seeing’ was the highest point of the spiritual life! Why are they so interested in always seeing the same tragedies or comedies: future wealth, bankruptcy, marriages and divorces, enemies, friends, illnesses, and so on? Don’t they see enough of that kind of thing already with their physical eyes? People are so often tired, sickened, by all that they see in their daily life! So why would they want to see more of it and end up becoming overwhelmed and made ill by it? Is this clever? Seeing… seeing… but seeing what? That is the question. All the candidates for clairvoyance should realize that, contrary to what they imagine, this faculty will prevent them from evolving, especially if they try to acquire it before developing the qualities that will enable them to make use of what they see. Seeing is not enough; you have to be able to grasp and understand what you find on the subtle planes as well as face and endure visions of hell.
