If you do not possess the light of initiatic science, you may well think that you are faultless, irreproachable, perfect. Yes, but as soon as you receive this light, you will be less pleased with yourself, for you will be forced to admit that you are not quite up to scratch. You will see that you have been wasting your time and energy in all kinds of useless or harmful activities. Sometimes you will even be so horrified by what you see that you will long to return to your former darkness. No, you must stay in the light, for light is still preferable. It is better to see how dirty and ugly you are than to be blind about yourself, because there is no better way to make you want to transform yourself. ‘Yes, but it will hurt!’ So be it. It is better to suffer a little and to remain in the light. It never does any good to hide from reality.
