No one will ever be able to prevent loss, accidents or …
No one will ever be able to prevent loss, accidents or tragedies from happening, but each of us can find ways of facing them so that they are not too hard to endure. Winter is a difficult period, but those who have insulated their houses and prepared what they need to keep warm will overcome these difficulties. The same is true for the inner life. Your life is bound to be turned upside down by certain events, certain conditions or situations. We live in such a chaotic world that we are always vulnerable to shocks. So it is not a question of changing the world – that would be impossible – but of transforming ourselves, of enlightening and fortifying our inner being. The transformation of the world is God’s affair, and he does not expect this of us. What he asks is that we work on ourselves, so that we are never brought low.
